U14s vs Braintree Town Irons – 5th February 2017

Rayne Youth 4   Braintree Town Irons 2

These are always well contested derby games against Braintree and this game did not disappoint. Braintree went ahead within the first 10 minutes only for Harrison Lane to equalise 8 minutes later. But Braintree put the pressure on Rayne and were again rewarded for their pressure with a goal on the 27th minute taking them into half time with the lead. It looked like Braintree were going to win this tie as their stand in keeper made some first class saves from everything Rayne could throw at them and it looked like it was going to be one of those days were the rub of the green wasn’t going to go Rayne’s way. But constant pressure from the home side in the last 10 minutes saw Tom Deal head home twice from the corners and Tony Wood wrap up the game with less than a minute to go. A Man of the Match performance from the stand in Braintree keeper who made some excellent saves to keep the Irons in it for a large proportion of the game.
