Rayne Youth 6 Broomfield Flames 4 (AET)
This was a rollercoaster game in which either side looked capable of winning with play going from end to end. Broomfield took the lead after 18 minutes with good attacking play and kept the lead up until half time. Five minutes into the second half Josh Oben produced a class strike from outside the box to bring the scores level. From then on goals came within five minutes of each other with Broomfield taking the lead only to be cancelled out by a header from Harrison Lane. Josh Oben then scored from a corner and it looked like the tie was going Rayne’s way but credit to Broomfield who played the better football on the day they put the ball in the back of the net to take the game into extra time. Within a minute they went ahead only for this to be cancelled out by Josh Oben from the spot. It was all played at a frantic pace from then on with both teams pushing for the win. But it was Tony Wood who sealed the game with two strikes to seal victory and a place in the League Cup final. Credit to both teams today for an entertaining cup tie keeping both Managers and supporters on the edge of their seats.
