U16 vs Witham Town – 27th January 2019

Rayne Youth 4  Witham Town 1

Rayne were very much in control of the game today and played some good attacking football after a week with no game due to the weather. Joe Betteridge opened the scoring on the 4th minute managing to get in between the two centre backs before putting past the keeper. Rayne created many chances from the wide areas with Josh Bashford and James Baker putting balls across the 6yard box but there was nobody in that area to produce the tap in. Witham drew level 7 minutes before the half with a long range shot beating the Rayne keeper.

4 minutes into the second half and Tony Wood was on the scoresheet to put Rayne in the driving seat. With wind and hill advantage Rayne kept the pressure on Witham their goalkeeper producing some excellent saves to keep the score down. James Baker was next to score for Rayne with an excellent solo effort out on the left, with Harry Ashdown scoring from outside the box 10 minutes later. A good squad performance all round today with standout performances from Callum Osborne at the back and James Baker in the midfield.
