Rayne Youth 3 Old Chelmsfordians 2
Rayne sealed a place in the League Cup Final with a super strike from Theo Dyson within the last 5 minutes of the game. With only 11 available this weekend Rayne were 2 down by the end of the first half as they struggled against an OC’s side who were on the front foot and causing problems in the midfield and were solid at the back. Rayne came out the second half a different team as they started to give that little bit extra in winning the ball therefore creating chances. A missed penalty by OC’s early in the second half was maybe the omen that Rayne needed as Harry Ashdown scored not long after that with James Baker getting the second 2 minutes later. Rayne pushed and created chances but it was looking like extra time when Dyson got the ball and put it in the top corner from outside the box. With 5 to go Rayne kept compact with a brilliant tackle by Harrison Lane in the midfield allowing him to win the ball and take it to the corner with only seconds remaining.
A solid second half performance from Rayne with everybody digging deep and working hard for each other.
